stoeckl Between 985 and 993 was Olang the first time documented as Olaga in books of the church of Brixen. We find also on a cupperplate the name Alana. Egon Kühebacher says that this name comes of celtic origins and stays for "property of an Aulos". Between 1142 and 1155 was the name of the village Olagen. In 1460 there was build the monument "Spitzige Stöckl" as a reminder of the plague of 1448.
peter sigmair 1809 there was a rebellion against the French and Bavarian, the leader of Tirol was Peter Sigmayr and was executed the 14. January 1810 as a rebell. The railroad was built in 1871 which impacts positively on the tourism. By 1900 Olang experienced an economic boom. First successes had the tourismus with the termal baths of Bergfall and Schartl. 1904 a great fire annihilated nearly the whole village Mitterolang. In 1910 the Peter-Sigmayr-monument was inaugurated.
talstation frueher The first lifts of the Olanger Seilbahnen Ag was build in 1966 at the Kronplatz. 1971 was the first slitting worldchampionship held on the natural rail. The nature park of Fanes-Senes-Prags was founded in 1980. In the year of 2000 there was the next world slitting championship.
